The Málaga Corpus of Early English Scientific Prose (MCEESP)
The Málaga Corpus of Early English Scientific Prose is a historical diachronic corpus containing medical material produced in the period 1350–1900. The corpus is divided into three subcorpora, covering a period of almost six hundred years: The Málaga Corpus of Late Middle English Scientific Prose (1350–1500), The Málaga Corpus of Early Modern English Scientific Prose (1500–1700) and The Málaga Corpus of Late Modern English Scientific Prose (1700–1900). It is offered as a balance corpus in terms of taxonomy of early English medical writing, i.e., theoretical treatises, surgical treatises and recipe collections, and it has been designed as a tool particularly useful for the study of linguistic change and variation from a diachronic perspective.
