Background and history

Work on CHELAR started in 2011, once the VLCG team had completed the compilation of the British English legal texts for version 3.2 of ARCHER. During CHELAR’s early stages (2011–2012) María José López-Couso and Paula Rodríguez-Puente, the latter a postgraduate researcher at the VLCG Research Unit at the time, coordinated a team of students comprising Zeltia Blanco-Suárez, Eduardo Coto, Tania de Dios, Iria Pastor, Alba Pérez-González, Paula Rodríguez-Abruñeiras, Iria Gael Romay and Vera Vázquez. Work on the corpus was resumed in July 2015 and has since been coordinated by Teresa Fanego and Paula Rodríguez-Puente, who have profited from the close collaboration of Cristina Blanco-García, Iván Tamaredo and Daniela Pettersson-Traba as research assistants.
