The Málaga Corpus of Late Modern English Scientific Prose (MCLModESP)

MCLModESP is the third component of The Málaga Corpus of Early English Scientific Prose. The corpus covers the period 1700–1900 and it also contains medical material belonging to three medical text types: theoretical treatises, surgical treatises and recipe collections. Unlike the earlier components of the corpus, MCLModESP is based on printed documents rather than handwritten material, thus allowing for studies concerning the influence of the printing press on the development of the English language. It constitutes an excellent resource for a wide variety of research studies on the history of the English language which, in combination with the earlier components of the corpus, covers a period of approximately six hundred years.
